It's easy to look like we're following God. We can go to church, read our Bible, pray, and say all the right things. But today's Bible reading reminds us that God is looking much deeper than our outward appearance. He's looking at our hearts. In Leviticus 27 , God reminds His people that everything belongs to Him. Whatever was dedicated to the Lord was to be treated as holy. That reminds me that my time, my money, my abilities, and even my life belong to God. He doesn't want my leftovers. He deserves my best. In Numbers 1 , God counted the people of Israel and gave every tribe a job to do. No one was left out. Everyone had a purpose. The same is true today. Every Christian has a place in God's kingdom. You don't have to be a preacher or missionary to make a difference. God has something for every one of us to do. Then we come to Mark 11 , where Jesus rides into Jerusalem as the promised King. In a world that often celebrates wealth, power, and self-interest, the Bible repeatedly reminds us that God's measure of greatness is very different. He pays close attention to how we treat the poor, the weak, and those who cannot repay our kindness. Proverbs 22:9 says, "The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." This is more than a call to charity. It is a reminder that generosity reflects the very character of God. Those who willingly share what they have demonstrate that they trust God to provide for their own needs. Blessing is not simply measured in dollars and possessions. It is found in a life marked by peace, purpose, and God's favor. Psalm 41:1–2 builds on this truth: "Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them..." We live in a world that celebrates independence, success, and getting ahead at almost any cost. Yet the Bible paints a very different picture of what it means to truly live well. Today's readings remind us that real freedom, lasting blessings, and true greatness all begin with a right relationship with God. In Leviticus 25:47–55 , God established a way for an Israelite who had fallen into poverty and sold himself into service to be redeemed. A close relative could pay the price for his freedom, and if no one did, he would be released in the Year of Jubilee. The lesson is simple: God's people ultimately belong to Him. They were never meant to remain in bondage forever. That same principle points us to Jesus Christ, who paid the price to set us free from the bondage of sin.
